How to Enable Band Selection Mode on Samsung Devices

7 Likes Comment

In this guide, we will show you how to enable Band selection mode on Samsung devices. By factory settings, Samsung devices are designed to assign the best available network mode to themselves.

This is useful in most cases as the device is always automatically connected to the best network mode. But when we consider band selection, users prefer some authority for themselves so that they can select the band they think is better.

For example, if users know that a particular network is congestion-free, then they of course choose to be connected to that network instead of the one that their phone connects them to so that they get a better connection.

What is disappointing for users is that the ability to change bands is not available easily. The functionality can not be activated from the Settings app. So if you are one of those users who want to enable band selection mode on Samsung, then do not worry.

There are two ways in which you can turn on the functionality, the first one consists of using a third-party application while the other makes use of ADB commands. In this guide here, we will be discussing both of them, so let’s get into it.

How to Enable Band Selection Mode on Samsung Devices

Below, we have mentioned both the methods that you can follow to enable band selection mode on Samsung devices. You can implement any one of the two that you prefer.

Using Third-party Application

  • First up, you will have to install the Samsung band selection app from the Google Play store.
  • Once the installation is complete, launch the application.
‌Inside the app, tap on the Launch Band selection option.
  • ‌Once done, go to the hamburger menu present on the top left of the interface and proceed to Band selection.
  • ‌Now you will be able to see all of the bands that are available. Choose any one of them that you want and then confirm your selection by turning on the Selection toggle at the top right of your screen.

And that was all that was required. With this, the network on your phone will be coming from the band you just selected. This is the easier method of the two, but if you prefer using ADB commands, then you can proceed to the next method.

Using ADB Commands

You should only go for this method if you are familiar with ADB tools and commands. If not, it is better that you use a third-party application to enable Band selection mode on Android. With that said, let’s get into it:

  • ‌Firstly, you will need to download Android SDK Platform tools on your PC so that you can get the appropriate fastboot tool for your PC.
  • ‌After that, enter Developer’s mode. This can be done by going to Settings > About and there you will have to tap on the build number 7 times. After that, head over to Settings again, then System > Advanced > Developer Options. In there, scroll down to USB debugging and enable the option.
  • Next, connect your phone to your PC using a USB cable.
  • Then head over to the platform-tools folder and search for cmd and press enter. This will open up the command prompt window on your PC.
  • After that, type in the following command:

adb shell

  • Then type this command:

am start -n

  • With this, you will go to the Network Selection Mode on your device. Head over to the Hamburger menu on the top left of your interface and proceed to Band Selection.
  • You will be able to see the list of available bands. Tap on the desired band and then turn on the toggle for Selection at the top right.
  • And you are done!
