Before Starting:

  • First of all, you should have a proper backup for your phone. Because all your phone’s data can get wiped leaving your phone just like brand new.
  • Download and install all the correct USB files your phone would be needed onto the PC.
  • Your phone should have at least 70% charge because an unexpected shutdown can be expected during the installation process.

Required Files:

HTC U11 RUU Collection Spreadsheet

[These are the RUU’s utility files released by HTC which are sent to the smartphones as an OTA update. These are zip files, therefore can be installed on HTC U11. You can download these zip files to your PC by simply clicking on its version number].

ADB and Fastboot on Windows 

[Also, do install this Fastboot folder on your PC].



At the very start, you have to download the files mentioned above in the *Required files section on to your PC.


Connect your HTC U11 to the desktop via USB cable.


Now, go to the folder in which you have installed ADB and Fastboot. Open a command prompt window inside the folder and type:

adb reboot download


This time your phone will reboot into the Download Mode. Transfer the firmware file from the above spreadsheet file to the ADB and Fastboot folder.


Once you have transferred the file, type in the command prompt window:

fastboot flash zip Firmware_xx.zip

Note: Replace the Firmware_xx.zip with the HTC’s firmware file’s filename.


Now, just press the enter key and see the firmware flashing process has started. This whole process will take only a few minutes. At the end, you will get a message “flash complete 100%”.


After the process is completed, hit the power button just to get back to the Download Mode on your smartphone.


This is it! Now you have to either turn off your phone or restart it. This will reboot the system as flashing the firmware process has been completed.

It may take few more minutes to reboot the system. So, you have switched your HTC U11 to Android 8.0 Oreo RUU Stock Firmware.
