In this guide, we will show you how to hear who is calling you on your Android phone. Although phones have advanced very much and can do almost anything, their primary purpose still is to make calls and receive them.
Every now and then, someone calls you on your phone and whether it be a friend or family, you can easily take a look at your screen and know who is calling you.
But did you ever imagine, that there is a way in which you can know about the caller without having to look at your device’s screen. This is because it is possible to hear who is calling you on your Android phone, courtesy of the Google Phone app.
How to Hear Who is Calling You On Your Android Phone?
The Google’s Phone app has a feature which calls out the name of any contact that is calling you on your Android phone. This feature is called “Caller ID Announcement”. So whenever you receive a call, the app will loudly announce who is calling and if the call is coming from an unknown number, the app will loudly read out the contact number of the caller.
The Google phone app is the stock phone app for Google Pixel devices while you can easily download it on other devices as well.
But before we start with the process, you need to make sure that the Phone app by Google has been set as the default phone app on your device. If you have not set the app as your default already, then don’t worry as the steps to do so are quite easy. First head over to the Settings app on your phone and then proceed to Apps > Default Apps > Phone.
After that, you are required to open the Phone app and then tap on the three dots that are available on the top right of the interface.
From the menu that appears, tap on Settings and then from the list of options, select Caller ID announcement.
Now tap on Announce Caller ID, which will be set to ‘Never’ by default.
Once you tap on it, you will be able to see three options. They are as follows:
- Always: You will hear who is calling you on your Android phone every time someone calls.
- Only when using a headset: You will only hear the name of the caller when you are wearing a pair of earphones or headphones.
- Never: The name of the caller will not be announced until you change this option.
So if you enable the Caller ID Announcement option, you will be able to hear who is calling you on your Android phone. So that was it from our side. We hope that you found this guide helpful. Let us know what you think in the comment section below.
