In this tutorial, we will show you how to extract WhatsApp group contacts. WhatsApp is an instant messaging application, which over the years, has gained a lot of popularity. Almost every smartphone user now uses the WhatsApp application and has made WhatsApp a part of their everyday routine. Talking to each other and creating groups with up to 256 members proves very useful for transporting messages. Although there are other messaging apps available which allow larger groups to be made, people still opt for WhatsApp over those apps as because of the wider audience reach it provides.
Talking about WhatsApp groups, there may be a time or some circumstance where you might need to get a list of all the contacts and numbers added on the WhatsApp group. If you try to perform this task manually, this would take a lot of time and effort. Considering the fact there can be up to 256 people in a group and you may also be a part of more than one group also, this can be quite a time-consuming task. So you would, of course, be looking for a way around this and we have got you covered as in this guide, we will be showing you how to extract WhatsApp group contacts and save them.
How to Extract WhatsApp Group Contacts
We have discussed two different methods to extract WhatsApp group contacts. The first method only involves a tweak to your browser while the second method involves the use of the third-party extension. If we talk about the first method, it is relatively harder to perform as related to the other, but it is quite safe and secure to use. Coming to the second method, it is easy to carry out and takes a lot less time, but since it involves the use of a third-party extension, users do not feel secure while using it for their personal contacts on WhatsApp. But for your convenience, we have shared both the methods and you may use any method you prefer.
METHOD 1: Via Browser
STEP 1: First of all, open the WhatsApp app on your device and then tap the three dots that appear on the top right. Then from the options that appear, select WhatsApp Web.
STEP 2: Then on your PC, open the WhatsApp web website and from there, scan the QR code that appears on your screen using your device.
STEP 3: Once you have opened WhatsApp web and accessed your account, head over to the group chat from which you want to extract contacts.
STEP 4: You will see that just below the group name, the names of the group members would be appearing. Right-click on that area and then click on Inspect or Inspect Element.
STEP 5: This will take you to the Elements section where all of the required codes would be highlighted. The code will contain all of the WhatsApp group contacts and the numbers on the group that you can extract.
STEP 6: From there, right-click on the code and then select Copy > Copy outerHTML
STEP 7: Now you need to open any text editor of your choice, such as Notepad. Now paste the copied codes on the editor. You will see that each contact or phone number will be separated by a comma, which you can change to <br>. With this, a break line will be added after every contact and will move each contact to a newer line, thus making it far easier to interpret and understand on a web browser.
STEP 8: Now save the file in HTML format.
STEP 9: Once the file is saved, double-click, in order to open it and then you, will see all of those contacts displayed on your web browser.
STEP 10: And that is it! Now you can easily copy these contacts and then paste them on any other file such as an Excel spreadsheet.
So that was our first method to extract WhatsApp group contacts. Now let’s take a look at the second method in question.
METHOD 2: Via Third Party Extension
STEP 1: First, head over to the Chrome Web store and there, search for Whatsapp Group Contacts Exporter. After that, click on the Add to Chrome button.
STEP 2: After that, a pop up will appear on your screen where you need to click on the Add extension button.
STEP 3: Once you have added the extension to your web browser, open WhatsApp web on your browser then connect your account to it using the same steps as mentioned in the previous method.
STEP 4: Now head over to the Group chat of your preference and you will be able to see the Downloads Contacts option from <group name> notification.
STEP 5: Now click on it and then follow the on-screen instructions to save these contact details.
