How To Install Android Oreo 8.0 Update on HTC U11

HTC U11 was launched earlier this year by HTC and following the massive failure of the HTC U Ultra, HTC finally tasted some long awaited success with the HTC U11. The phone was initially released with Android Nougat 7.0 running on board and it generally received positive reviews for its build quality and display.

The device is currently receiving the latest November security patch update along with the update to Android Oreo 8.0, the latest version of Android. While a lot of HTC U11 users around the world are already reporting that they are receiving the OTA update, some of them have still not received it.

The update is rolling out in phases and it might take a while before it reaches to every HTC U11 device in every region. So, you can either wait till the update reaches your device or you can follow the below step by step instructions to manually update your device to Android Oreo 8.0 right now.

The Android Oreo 8.0 update brings with it a few new interesting features like Picture in Picture mode for YouTube, notification shortcuts for app icons and improved controls for doze functionality. The update is also said to improve the overall performance and stability of the device. Step 1:

Download the official OTA update of Android Oreo 8.0 for HTC U11 from here.

Step 2:

Rename the downloaded zip file as for easier access and then move the file to the internal storage of your device.

Step 3:

Now enable the USB debugging option from the developer options menu. You can enable the developer options by going to Settings->About Phone and then tapping on the build number multiple times.

Step 4:

Download the ADB and fastboot driver installation setup from here and then follow throught the steps to install it on your PC.

Step 5:

Now switch off your device and then boot into the recovery mode. You can do this by holding the Volume up and power button simultaneously for a few seconds.

Step 6:

Once in the recovery mode, select the ‘Apply update via SD card’ option and then browse the downloaded file and then select it.

Step 7:

Once the flashing process is completed just reboot your device and you will be booted into the all new Android Oreo 8.0 on your HTC U11.
