How to Root Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530H and Install TWRP Recovery via Odin

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime is one of the popular phone released an year ago. Grand Prime SM-G530H is a budget smartphone that comes with good enough specifications running on Android KitKat out of the box. Grand Prime has received good support for software updates like Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. So if you have updated your device to 5.0.2 Lollipop then its now possible to get root access on the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware with build number G530HXXU2BOH5.

In this guide you’ll be required to install a custom recovery like TWRP via Odin flashing tool. Odin is basically a Windows-based tool which is developed for the Samsung devices to install/update stock firmware, CF-Auto-Root and installing a custom recovery etc. After flashing the custom recovery, we’ll flash the SuperSU package using TWRP to get administrative privileges over the internal file system of Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530H.

Root Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530H on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and Install TWRP Recovery

Note:

This guide containing the root package and instructions can be used only with the Galaxy Grand Prime. Check the model number of your phone, if it is SM-G530H then go ahead, otherwise not. Do not use these instructions for any other device or incorrect variant.

Pre-Requirements:

  • It is highly recommended to make a proper backup of your contacts, messages, photos, videos and other important data on your phone.
  • Make sure that your Grand Prime SM-G530H is on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware.
  • The battery level of your phone should be at least up to 70% to avoid unexpected shutdowns while rooting.
  • Enable USB Debugging on your phone by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Download and install Samsung USB Drivers on your PC.

Required Files:

Steps to Root Galaxy Grand Prime SM-G530H & Install TWRP:

1:- First, download the TWRP Package (TWRP-SMG530H.tar), Odin tool (Odin v3.10.7) and SuperSU (SM-G530H-SuperSU-v2.46.zip) files on the desktop of your PC for Grand Prime.

2:- Copy/paste the SuperSU file to the internal storage of your device.

3:- Extract the TWRP file to get the file with .tar extension and Odin flashing tool also to get the Odin3_v3.10.7.exe file.

4:- Switch off the Galaxy Grand Prime in order to boot into the Download Mode.

5:- Switch on the device while pressing and holding Volume UP + Home + Power buttons at the same time. Once a warning screen with a yellow triangle sign appears, press the Volume Up button to enter into Download Mode.

6:- Run Odin as administrator on the PC.

7:- Connect the phone using its USB data cable with the PC.

8:- Once the Grand Prime is connected successfully with the PC, the ID:COM port will turn Blue on Odin and you’ll see “Added!!” message.

9:- Click on the AP button on Odin and locate the firmware file (TWRP-SMG530H.tar) that you have already extracted. Select it.

10:- Ensure that the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked and the Re-Partition option should be unchecked.

10:- Begin the TWRP installation by clicking on the Start button in Odin. This process may take a few minutes.

12:- A PASS! message will be displayed on Odin after the TWRP installed successfully and the device will restart.

13:- Disconnect the device and turn it OFF to boot into TWRP recovery mode.

14:- Turn ON the phone by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons altogether to boot into the TWRP recovery.

15:- Tap the Install button in TWRP and select the SM-G530H-SuperSU-v2.46.zip.

16:- After the installation is completed, reboot the system.

Done! You have successfully rooted your Galaxy Grand Prime running on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop via Odin.

  1. It says signature failed so it says failed to update the file and restarts the phone please help my phone is SM-G530H and BASEBAND:G530HXXU2BOH5 .
