How to Root T-Mobile LG G4 on H81110n Firmware with TWRP Recovery

LG G4 is the latest flagship smartphone, recently released by LG and then rolled-out the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop firmware upgrade for these devices. LG G4 has also released an upgrade with a Software version H81110n as well as for the international variants. So if you have installed the latest Android firmware on your T-Mobile LG G4 then being an advanced Android user, you’d like to root your LG G4 and install a custom recovery on it. Go ahead and follow the given instructions carefully.

In this guide, first we’ll need to flash a custom recovery such as TWRP that will be used to install custom packages SuperSU, viz and custom ROMS on LG G4. After the custom recovery is successfully installed, you’ll be able to flash the SuperSU package in order to get root access.

Root T-Mobile LG G4 on H81110n firmware

Note:

This guide containing root package and instructions can be used only for the T-Mobile LG G4 on H81110n firmware. Do not try this tutorial for any other device or incorrect variant.

Pre-Requirements:

  • Take a proper backup of all your important data and setting on you LG G4 before proceeding to the rooting guide. Nandroid backup is recommended.
  • A windows-based PC will be required to extract and run the .bat file to install the TWRP.
  • Download and install LG G4 USB Drivers on your PC.
  • Your T-Mobile USA LG G4 must be on H81110n firmware.
  • Enable USB Debugging option by navigating to Settings > Developer Options > Enable OEM Unlock and enable USB Debugging.
  • The battery level of LG G4 should be at least about 70% to avoid unexpected shutdowns while rooting it.

Steps to Flash TWRP on T-Mobile LG G4:

First, we’ll install a TWRP custom recovery on the the T-Mobile LG G4 which is a one-click process.

1:- Connect the LG G4 to the computer using its USB data cable.

2:- Extract H811-One-Click.zip file that you’ve already downloaded from the above link.

3:- Open the extracted folder and run the LG-G4-H811-UNLOCK-TWRP.bat file to start flashing TWRP.

4:- choose the Allow button to allow USB Debugging request. The flashing process will be initiated and it may reboot many times.

5:- Disconnect the device and remove the battery when prompted.

6:- Put the battery back in and Power on the LG G4.

You have successfully installed the TWRP Recovery on the LG G4.

Steps to Root T-Mobile LG G4 on H81110n with TWRP Recovery:

Once the TWRP recovery installed, proceed to root the LG G4 by flashing the SuperSU package.

1:- Connect the LG G4 with the PC and copy/paste the SuperSU zip file to the Internal Storage of the phone.

2:- Next, turn OFF your phone and boot into TWRP Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons altogether. Once the LG logo appears, release the power button and press again.

3:- Factory reset your LG G4 two times when asked and you’ll be directed to TWRP.

4:- While your phone is now in TWRP, choose install and select the SuperSU.zip file where you’ve copied it in Step No 1.

5:- Swipe right to install.

After the SuperSU package has been successfully installed, reboot to System.

  1. This will not work for me. After I get to the step of factory reseting my device, TWRP never opens and it just does a regular factory reset. I have gone through all of the steps multiple times, TWRP tells me it’s installed and every thing, but I can never get it to open.
