The latest Android 5.0.2 Lollipop has been rolled out for many Samsung devices recently along with LG, HTC and Nexus. The Galaxy Grand Duos I9082 is a lower mid-range device launched in 2012 and comes with 1GB RAM, dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 5-inch TFT LCD with 480×800 pixel resolution and 8MP camera running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. If you owned Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos I9082, then the good news is that the unofficial CM12 based Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is now available to download and install on your phone, but you may know that the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop official update isn’t currently available for Galaxy Grand (I9082/I9082L).
This ROM is developed and provided by Xda-developers (pawitp), not by the CM team, so this is not the Nightly build of CM 12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS. Developers are still working to fix the minor issues in this under development ROM, but this CM12 ROM has been tested by many users and it works without problems on Samsung Galaxy Grand devices, according to the developers. It can be used as a daily driver because it is stable having no major bugs. CM12 is a custom ROM which is not officially released so that it can be installed on the Galaxy Grand manually. The CM12 Custom ROM in this guide is only applicable to the Samsung Galaxy Grand I9082/I9082L. Flashing this firmware on any other variant might brick your device. Verify the model number of your device before proceeding.

- A custom recovery, like CMW or TWRP recovery, should be installed on the phone.
- Windows-Based PC will be required to install CM12 manually.
- Enabled USB debugging option by navigating to “Menu – Settings – Developer Options”.

Steps to Update Galaxy Grand (I9082/I9082L) with CM12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop:
Step No 1: – First, connect your Galaxy Grand with the PC using its USB data cable.
Step No 2: – Copy the downloaded CM12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update file and Google Apps package to the Galaxy Grand.
Step No 3: – Disconnect your phone after copying files into it.
Step No 4: – Turn Off your Galaxy Grand to boot it into Recovery Mode.
Step No 5: – Now turn your device on by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time until recovery mode is being displayed.
Step No 6: – After entering into Recovery Mode, select “wipe data factory reset” and “wipe cache partition”.
Step No 7: – Also, select “Advanced” and choose “wipe Dalvik cache”.
Step No 8: – Navigate to the main Recovery Menu and choose “install zip from SD card” followed by “choose zip from SD card”.
9: – Find and select the CM12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware .zip file that you’ve already copied to your device. Proceed the installation process on your Galaxy Grand.
Step No 10: – Install Google Apps Package on your device by repeating the above steps.
Step No 11: – Reboot your device now by going to main Recovery Menu again and select “reboot system now”.
Done! You’ve installed CM12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop custom ROM on your Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 successfully.
