How to install Moto G 2014 LTE CyanogenMod 13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM. The latest Google’s mobile OS Marshmallow is now available to download for the Motorola Moto G 2014 LTE variants using a custom ROM. After the release of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, CyanogenMod Team has started to release the CM13 ROMs. No doubt that stock ROMs are better but custom ROMs brings more features and customizations that you can’t find in official builds. CyanogenMod is the most popular name among Android users and you can now update Moto G 2014 LTE CyanogenMod 13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow ROM.

This ROM is currently in its early stages and you might face some bugs and not functioning features, so it will not be used as a daily driver but if you’d like to check out the latest Android OS version then you can install it as a secondary ROM if you have MultiROM installed. Please note that this is a custom ROM which is developed by the third party developers, not officially released by Motorola, thus you’ll need a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM pre-installed on your device in order to flash the ROM .zip file.

There is no Marshmallow ROMS based on AOSP are currently available for Moto G 2014, so if you want to install Moto G 2014 LTE CyanogenMod 13 6.0 Marshmallow ROM on your phone then go ahead and follow the given instructions.

Note:

This guide containing the CyanogenMod 13 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and instructions can be used only with the Moto G 2014 LTE. Do not try to install this firmware on any other device or incorrect variant.

Pre-Requirements:

  • Take a proper backup of everything like SMS, MMS, Settings, Contacts, Call Logs, Media Files and other contents etc before proceeding to the installation guide.
  • The latest version of a custom recovery like TWRP should be already installed on your device.
  • Make sure you have TWRP recovery installed on your device.
  • Download and install Moto G 2014 USB Drivers on your PC.
  • The battery level of your phone should be charged at least about 80% to prevent unexpected shutdowns while installation.

Required Files:

Steps to Update Moto G 2014 LTE CyanogenMod 13 6.0 Marshmallow ROM:

1:- First, download the Android 6.0 Marshmallow CyanogenMod ROM (aosp-6.0-20151013-UNOFFICIAL-i9082.zip) and Google Apps package from the above links on the desktop of your PC.

2:- Connect the phone with the PC using its USB data cable and copy/paste both of the .zip files to the root folder of the internal storage of your Moto G 2014.

3:- Disconnect the Moto G and turn it off in order to boot into TWRP recovery mode.

4:- Turn the Moto G ON while pressing and holding Volume Down + Power buttons altogether for a few seconds.

5:- While your device is now in TWRP recovery, take a Nandroid backup now.

6:- Once the backup is completed successfully, navigate to the main menu of TWRP recovery and tap the wipe button > select Advanced Wipe. Then select Dalvik Cache,SystemData, and Cache.

7:- Go back to the main TWRP menu and tap on the install option. Locate and select the CM13 ROM .zip file that you have already transferred to the internal storage of your phone.

8:- Begin the installation by swiping the confirmation button to install the ROM.

9:- Finally, install the Google Apps package .zip file by repeating the above steps.

10:- Finally, reboot the device by tapping on Reboot System button in the Recovery menu.

Your Moto G 2014 will be rebooted and may take about 4 to 5 minutes to boot for the first time after installation.

Done! You’ve successfully installed Moto G 2014 LTE CyanogenMod 13 6.0 Marshmallow ROM.
