Install TWRP Recovery And Root Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus

Samsung has recently launched his brand-new flagships S8 and S8 plus in the market and started shipping only a few days ago. The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are one of the most awaited smartphones which have so many rumors already. If you have purchased this smartphone and want to root and install TWRP recovery then you are at the right place. All thanks to the Jesec from XDA member to coming up with a root method that really works. Samsung was forced to launch their flagship devices with a Qualcomm chip in the US due to some copyright infringement issues. Samsung Galaxy flagship means an Exynos powered beast rest of the world. Exynos is the most popular than Qualcomm chip and has better developer support.  By following this step by step guide, you can easily root and install TWRP Recovery 3.1.0 on Galaxy S8 and S8+ (Exynos Variants).

Once you successfully install TWRP Recovery 3.1.0 on your Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus after that you can root your device, install custom ROM and karnals on your device. You must know that rooting is an unofficial process, so if you root an Android device then you will void your phone warranty. Before proceeding, don’t forget to take a full backup of all your valuable data. Note:

This guide containing the root package and instructions can be used only with the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus (SM-

G950F/ G955F/FD/X/N). Check the model number of your phone if it is S8 and S8 Plus then go ahead, otherwise not. Do not use these instructions for any other device or incorrect variant.

Pre-Requirements:

  • It is highly recommended to make a proper backup of your contacts, messages, photos, videos and other valuable data on your phone.
  • Make sure that your Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow firmware.
  • The battery level of your phone should be at least up to 70% to avoid unexpected shutdowns while rooting.
  • Enable USB Debugging on your phone by navigating to Settings > Developer Options.
  • Download and install Samsung USB Drivers on your PC.

Steps to Install TWRP & Root Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus SM-(G950F/ G955F/FD/X/N):

Step No 1: – First, download the TWRP Package Odin tool (Odin v3.10.7) and SuperSU (SR2-SuperSU-v2.79-SR2-20170103215521.zip) files on the desktop of your PC for Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus.

Step No 2: – Copy/paste the SuperSU file to the internal storage of your device.

Step No 3: – Extract the TWRP file to get the file with .tar extension and Odin flashing tool also to get the Odin3_v3.10.7.exe file.

Step No 4: – Switch off the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus to boot into the Download Mode.

Step No 5: – Switch on the device while pressing and holding Volume UP + Home + Power buttons at the same time. Once a warning screen with a yellow triangle sign appears, press the Volume Up button to enter into Download Mode.

Step No 6: – Run Odin as administrator on the PC.

Step No 7: – Connect the phone using its USB data cable with the PC.

Step No 8: – Once the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is connected successfully with the PC, the ID: COM port will turn Blue on Odin, and you’ll see “Added!!” message.

9: – Click on the AP button in Odin and locate the firmware file that you have already extracted. Select it.

Step No 10: – Ensure that the Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options are checked, and the Re-Partition option should be unchecked.

Step No 11: – Begin the TWRP installation by clicking on the Start button in Odin. This process may take a few minutes.

Step No 12: – A PASS! Message will be displayed on Odin after the TWRP installed successfully and the device will restart.

Step No 13: – Disconnect the device and turn it OFF to boot into TWRP recovery mode.

Step No 14: – Turn ON the phone by pressing and holding the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons altogether to boot into the TWRP recovery.

Step No 15: – Tap the Install button in TWRP and select the –SuperSU-v2.46.zip.

Step No 16: – After the installation is completed, reboot the system.

Done! You have successfully Install TWRP Recovery and Rooted your Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus via Odin.
