The OneUI 2.5 is believed to be the next version in line for release of the Samsung Android Skin. OneUI is Samsung’s latest Android skin, succeeding the previous Samsung interface, TouchWiz and Samsung’s Experience UI. OneUI is basically a software overlay, or as the name suggests, a user interface developed by the Samsung Smartphone company for its Android devices based on Android 9 (Pie) or higher. Its primary purpose is to make it easier and more convenient for users to use larger phone and to improve the overall experience.
Although the OneUI 2.5 does not provide a pure Android experience as good as the Oxygen OS from OnePlus, but it would be very appropriate to say that it is one of the best Android skins out there. Especially when we keep in mind the various tools and additional utilities that you get along with Samsung’s Knox security. Another reason why One UI is so popular among Samsung users is its distinctive and approachable user interface.
The majority of Samsung’s recent devices run on the OneUI 2.1, which is for phones based on Android 10. But a newer version of the Android skin, the OneUI 2.5 is expected to be released for Samsung Users in August 2020. As the Android 11 is yet to be released, so the OneUI 2.5 will also be based on Android 10. Samsung usually releases its new flagships in the summer. Similarly, the update is also expected to come out in the summer. Users are enthusiastic towards the release of new Samsung devices including Note 20 series, Fold 2 series, Flip 5G, Galaxy tab S7 and even the Galaxy watch.
This article contains the list of devices that are expected to receive the update along with new features that Samsung’s OneUI 2.5 brings in.
OneUI 2.5:
The OneUI 2.5 will succeed the OneUI 2.1. The majority of the features that the current version contains will stay as they are with little changes. An integral feature that the current version lacks is the support for Android 10’s swipe gesture navigation for third-party launcher applications. This will be changed in the OneUI 2.5 and we will see this gap filled in the newer version.
OneUI 2.5 will also include compatibility for some newer widgets. There are no major updates expected for this version, however significant changes will be observed when the Android 11 based on OneUI 3.0 is released.
Expected Date:
As mentioned above, Samsung unveils its new devices and software updates in the Summer in the Galaxy Unpacked event. This year it is supposed to take place on the 5th of August. There were also rumors that the event would be postponed due to the global pandemic but that is not the case. Instead users can stay assured that they will see the promised Samsung devices and updates. It is not confirmed that the OneUI 2.5 will be released in the event itself, but it is very likely. It is common that Samsung releases a new software update with the release of a new device. So it is expected that the Note 20 series will be released with OneUI 2.5.
Devices list:
Since Samsung has not officially announced the release of OneUI 2.5 yet, the devices that are going to receive the update are also not known. But we can make some assumptions and about the devices likely to get the update. As we know that the update is coming based on Android 10, we can safely assume that all the Samsung devices that run on Android 10 will receive the update.
The Galaxy Note 20 series and Fold 2 series are expected to be the first devices to be released with the OneUI 2.5. After them, the S20 series, Note 10 series, and the S10 series will also receive this update. Once the flagship series’ have received the update, Samsung will make the update available OTA so that it can be downloaded on other Samsung Mid range and low budget devices.

Keep in mind that this is not an official list and there can be changes, but this these are the devices that we expect are most likely to receive the update.

As mentioned above, all of these devices will not receive the update at the same time. The first devices to receive the update will be the from the flagship series’. Following them, the other mid range and low budget devices will start to receive the update in the next few weeks. Those devices will likely include the Galaxy A series, Galaxy M series and Galaxy Tab series.
