Update Galaxy S3 to CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Custom ROM: Samsung Galaxy devices have received the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update as well as Nexus devices, even though not officially. You may know that the Galaxy S5 is already enjoying the official Lollipop update. Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is the latest version of the most popular Android OS. CM12 is almost out for most of the Samsung Galaxy Smartphones as installing custom ROM improve the device’s performance and UI experiences.

Note:

This CM12 custom ROM series Android 5.0.2 Lollipop firmware is only working on Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 (Exynos). Don’t try this firmware on any other device, as a result; it might get bricked. You can verify the model number of your Galaxy S3 by navigating to Settings > About phone > Model number.

Pre-Requirements:

  • Take a complete backup of all the data via TWRP installed on your Galaxy S3.
  • Your Galaxy S3 should be rooted and has a ClockworkMod Recovery installed. Otherwise, a custom ROM will not be installed on it.
  • Download and install USB drivers for Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 on your PC.
  • The battery level of your Galaxy S3 should be more than 85% before proceeding to the installation guide.

Required Files:

  • Download CyanogenMod Android 5.0.2 Lollipop CM12 Beta-1 Custom ROM
  • Download Google Apps (Gapps)

Steps to Install CyanogenMod 12 Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Custom ROM on Galaxy S3

1: – First plug your Galaxy S3 I9300 to the PC using its USB data cable.

2: – Now transfer the Android 5.0 Lollipop .zip file to the root folder of SD Card into your device.

3: – Disconnect the Galaxy S3 from the PC.

4: – Power Off your device to put into Recovery Mode.

5: – Turn On the device by pressing and holding Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time.

6: – While your device is in the Recovery Mode, wipe all the data on the phone, by choosing “wipe data/factory reset” option.

7: – Wipe the cache memory by selecting “wipe cache partition.”

8: – Navigate to ClockworkMod recovery, and choose Advanced, then tap “Wipe Dalvik cache.”

9: – Now once again go back to the main recovery menu and then tap “Install zip from SD card.”

10: – Tap on “Choose zip from sd card” and find the Android 5.0.2 ROM .zip file that you’ve copied to the root folder of SD card and begin the installation process.

11:- Navigate to “+++++Go Back+++++” once the installation process completed.

12: – Finally, reboot the device by selecting “reboot system now” from the recovery menu.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 will take an about 4-5 to boots up for the first time after installation.

Done! You’ve successfully updated Samsung Galaxy S3 to CyanogenMod based Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Custom ROM.

  1. external sd card is not showing up. even in file manager I cant see the external storage. I tried to mount but still doesn’t work.
